Botswana Savings Bank is an autonomous financial institution
established by an act of parliament in 1992. The Bank is a
member of the World Savings Bank Institute- an association
of Savings Banks represented in over 90 countries worldwide,
spread over Africa, Europe, Latin America, Australia and Asia.
The bank is required to carry out its business according to
sound commercial principles and in accordance with the Banking
Act of 1995.
The bank’s aim is to cultivate a strong saving habit among
Batswana and to promote the culture of self-development; to
improve the standard of living of Batswana in a way that other
foreign owned banks are not willing or able to.
Mandate
BSB plays an essential role of mobilizing savings and providing
banking services throughout the country. This service is consolidated
by a bilateral Agreement between the Bank as provided for
by Section 3 of the BSB Act of 1992 and the Botswana Postal
Services where the service is primarily delivered.

Strategic
Alliances
BSB and Botswana Postal Services have a statutory agreement
which entitles BSB to use post offices as its distribution
channel thus providing the Bank with an added advantage in
promoting access to banking facilities countrywide. Customers
can access BSB products and services at 114 postal services
spread across the country.
