Botswana Savings Bank CEO, Mr Nixon Marumoloa officiated as a guest speaker at the TOTUMA Arable Commercial Farmers Association . TOTUMA, (which is an acronym of Tonota, Tutume and Masunga) was registered in 2008. The Association has 36 Farmer Members to date, aiming to grow the Association into a Commercial Farming status. The Association aims to commercialise farming, explore markets and use modern technology.

Giving a keynote address, Mr Marumoloa emphasised that the agricultural sector is a critical path to the economic success of every nation. He further explained that the Field Day initiative is aligned with the Government of Botswana’s initiatives at the right time. The Government has introduced Temo Letlotlo under the Ministry of Agriculture – A programme that aims to improve food security in Botswana through various incentives and support to Farmers.

The theme of the field day was “Crop production through the use of modern technology for targeted markets in the era of climate change.”
